Ventura County Master Gardeners

We are proud to have the Ventura County Master Gardeners at our event. The Master Gardeners will answer your gardening questions, and show you how to have a great garden – anywhere.

Planned Master Gardener presentations include both on-going demonstrations in the main area plus break-out sessions held in an adjacent area:

Sustainable Landscape Design, with topics that cover the basic fundamentals:

  • Landscaping in harmony with the natural conditions of the watershed.
  • Reducing waste and recycling materials.
  • Keeping greenwaste on site
  • Nurturing healthy soils while reducing fertilizer use.
  • Conserving water, energy and topsoil.
  • Using IPM to minimize chemical use.
  • Reducing stormwater runoff.
  • Creating wildlife habitat.

The Master Gardeners will have native plants that reflect the Sustainable Landscape design philosophy and present a little bit of cultural information on each.

They will have handouts and pamphlets from the University of California Cooperative Extension on these topics plus upcoming events sponsored by the Hanson Agriculture Center and the UCCE. Ventura County Master Gardener events include the Ventura County Fair, Weekend Garden Talks at the Hanson Agriculture Center and the upcoming Home Gardening Workshops. For more information, visit on the Ventura County Master Gardeners‘ web site.
